Dear reader,

So, this recipe is now world known, but to my knowledge, it’s a traditional Middle Eastern and Asian beauty care hack, created to clear all skin types from facial imperfections such as discolouration and acne. So here is how I do my mix.

  • Turmeric Powder (Ideally pure powder)- 1 tsp.

You have to be careful with this step, you never want to end up having the mask stain your skin, especially if it’s your face. Turmeric powder is great for brightening the skin, this doesn’t mean you will get lighter than your natural colour, it means that turmeric would naturally remove dead skin and unnatural discolouration. Along with clearing spots and scars.

  • Natural Yogurt- 1 tbsp.

It is a naturally exfoliating ingredient, leaving the skin smoother, clearer, and more hydrated. The lactic acid present in yogurt helps the removal of dead skin.

  • Honey (Ideally organic or pure)- 1 tbsp.

Honey is great for acne because it is antibacterial, it really helped clear my skin in my teenage years (god that sounds like forever ago!). It is a really good ingredient for hydration creating a natural glow, if you suffer from dryness, you can even use honey alone as a mask. To use it alone, wet your skin a bit (to avoid the stickiness feeling), and apply raw honey directly on your skin (avoiding your eyes obviously), and gently massage it in a circular motion.

  • Lemon- Few drops.

Lemon is an antibacterial and anti-fungal ingredient, it is still acidic therefore I do not recommend leaving a big amount for a long duration of time, even though many articles actually recommend leaving it overnight, I would be careful if you decide to do so.

  • Rose Water (Ideally organic or pure)- 1/2 tbsp.

Rose water could be used alone as a toner, I love using it both alone as well as in a mask. It helps tightened your pores and tone your skin with its astringent properties. These help control the pH levels, along with managing excess oil your body naturally produces. As with the other ingredients, it also promotes hydration and heals scars.

I hope this helps you understand the role of each ingredient in this mask. Let me know if you give it a try! I would recommend using it twice to three times a month, or if your currently dealing with heavy skin imperfections, using it once a week.
